Campaign Strategist Says Bidens Approval Rating Afghanistan Withdrawal Could Hurt Democrats

Rove sees election turning on candidates' conduct

Campaign strategist says Biden's approval rating, Afghanistan withdrawal could hurt Democrats

WASHINGTON - Karl Rove, a former top adviser to President George W. Bush, said Sunday that he believes the upcoming midterm elections could turn on how voters judge the conduct of the candidates in critical moments.

Rove, who served as senior adviser to Bush from 2000 to 2007 and deputy chief of staff from 2004 to 2007, said that President Biden's approval rating is currently at 45% or below, and that only 30% of Americans believe the country is on the right track.

He also noted that there are still more than 100 Americans and tens of thousands of Afghans who are eligible to come to the US, including many who supported US troops, but who are still stranded.

Rove said that he believes Democratic candidates need to be more empathetic in order to win over voters.

"They need to show up, be a human being, and have a relationship with voters," he said.
